SPSA Five YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN
Developed over the course of 2009/10, the SPSA Five Year Strategic Plan 2010-2015, captures in a single document what SPSA is about and what we seek to achieve. It is the direct result of extensive consultation with our staff, our Board, our many customers within Scottish policing, and wider stakeholders.
We have reflected on our past three years of operation, and we have been very open and honest throughout the consultation process. We have identified the elements of SPSA that are working well, those that are not working so well, and also what refinements and changes are required to move us forward.
The result is a forward-looking five year Strategic Plan that focuses on optimising the current services we provide to our existing customers. In doing so - and we accept that there are major challenges ahead in what will be a period of public spending constraint - we must look to clearly and tangibly demonstrate to Scottish policing the value we provide. The excellence we know exists in our organisation must be backed by fact rather than assertion. That is the route to building even greater confidence among policing in what we provide, and to the real and exciting potential for SPSA growth in the future.
Our vision is to be an organisation that commands the confidence of Scottish policing, and is identified as the preferred partner for the delivery of wider support services. But we will only be able to turn this vision into a reality by working in close partnership with our customers and stakeholders.
SPSA only exists because Scottish policing exists. We are important partners for policing, and we can and should be an intelligent adviser to policing - capable of initiating work and anticipating issues. However, we are above all a supplier of services and the police are our customers. It is our clear responsibility to deliver what they need to do their job.
The Strategic Plan sets out the SPSA's long term goals and objectives and it will be supported and supplemented by SPSA annual plans and individual business area plans.
