Director General SCDEA Gordon Meldrum

On 1 January 2008, Gordon Meldrum was appointed SCDEA Director General. 

Prior to this, Mr Meldrum was Deputy Director General of SCDEA, a position he was appointed on 8 June 2006. He previously served with Strathclyde Police for 21 years working in Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire, performing uniform and CID duties.

In 1997, he was appointed Head of the Scottish Office of the National Criminal Intelligence Service, a post that he held for three years. Thereafter, in 2000, he was seconded as Project Team Leader for the newly formed Scottish Drug Enforcement Agency and remained with the SDEA for a further two years as Deputy Head of Intelligence.

More recently in 2003/2004, Mr Meldrum was selected to undertake a 12 month Fellowship Programme with the Leadership Development Institute of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, based primarily at the FBI Academy, Quantico, Virginia, USA, but also spending time in many other States, as well as with the Australian Institute of Police Management in New South Wales. On return to the United Kingdom, Mr Meldrum was appointed Deputy Head of Strathclyde Police Operational Support Division, before taking up post as Divisional Commander of Glasgow North and East Dunbartonshire in April 2005.
