Six teams from across SPSA and the SCDEA received recognition in the inaugural Scottish Policing Awards, held on the 20th of October 2009.
Three teams received ‘Outstanding Contribution' awards including the Scottish Police College for their work on delivering probationer training to record numbers of new recruits, Forensic Services Edinburgh for their work on the Peter Tobin case, and Information Services ICT and Strathclyde Police who were jointly recognised for their work in developing a new crime reporting tool to help the force manage its performance.
Congratulating all those recognised today, SPSA Convener Vic Emery and Interim Chief Executive Jo Brigham said:
"This is terrific recognition for some of the excellent work that SPSA and SCDEA staff have been involved with over the past year. The various awards demonstrate once again the range and depth of the work that we do in support of our customers in policing, and in partnership with policing. Our congratulations and thanks to all those involved."
All those receiving awards joined nearly 200 guests from across policing at a ceremony held at the Scottish Police College.

"These policing awards highlight many examples of how our police officers and staff across Scotland work tirelessly to serve their communities. The excellent service they provide is clear in the recent crime stats which show crime at its lowest level for nearly 30 years.
"I congratulate the Scottish Police Services Authority on their success which recognises the work going on to tackle crime and reassure members of the community.
"The Scottish Government is committed to providing our police forces with the resources to make our communities safer and stronger and that is what we are doing with record numbers of officers serving our communities.
"By working in partnership we can continue to deliver effective policing for the people of Scotland."
