Developing and Managing ANPR

ANPR is supported by a centralised database - the Scottish Back Office Facility.  This central database allows the integrated management of all data held by Scottish ANPR systems.

Managing ANPR

Criminal Justice has responsibility for the management the Automatic Number Plate Recognition database.

We assist the Scottish Police Service by ensuring that intelligence is managed within ANPR in accordance with nationally agreed standards and legislative requirements.

Our principal function is to ensure that all ANPR users have a fully operating and available intelligence system. We are responisble for monitoring and resolving faults, monitoring the performance of the central database and ensuring that forces comply with the agreed rules and conventions.

We are also engaged in the development and improvement of the central database including the integration between ANPR and SID.
