Managing SID

Criminal Justice has responsibility for the management of the Scottish Intelligence Database and assists the Scottish Police Service by ensuring that intelligence is managed within SID in accordance with nationally agreed standards and legislative requirements.

Our principal function is to ensure that all SID users have a fully operating and available intelligence system. We oversee the use of the system, providing a range of services, ranging from compliancy checks to technical support including database administration, fault recording and system performance testing.  We also coordinate national training in respect of the SID application.

The ANPR unit also sits within Criminal Justice and provides a support function for the eight Scottish police forces - monitoring and resolving faults, monitoring the performance of the central database and ensuring that forces comply with the agreed rules and conventions.

We are also engaged in the development and improvement of the central database including the integration between ANPR and SID.
